Cabinet of Curiosities:
Linking to a love of nature, I like to watch animal documentaries in my spare time. A personal favourite of mine is "The Blue Planet" which was narrated by David Attenborough as it explored the oceans on our planet, areas which we know little about. Another favourite of mine is Walking With Dinosaurs/Beasts which used CGI to take viewers back to the prehistoric ages in a unique experience.
I am an enthusiastic video game player/collector...I still have many relics from the history of gaming. I feel video games have developed a lot since they were first created, being the focus of films like Angry Video Game Nerd:The Movie and controversy has cemented their place in the media. What fascinates me the most about video games is how companies find interesting ways to promote their products or causes.
Ashley's Curiosities
From a young age I have always been interested in space and its surroundings. I wonder if it has something to do with my surname? I've put this in my cabinet as it's a ever fascinating subject that can be studied and appreciated.
Mitch's Curiosities
I am an artistic person who likes to draw and paint Warhammer models. Websites like DeviantART and Facebook allow me to connect with others who share my passions. While I have always liked to draw, I didn't start painting until recently, when I was inspired by the artist Bob Ross. He was the host of a show called "The Joy Of Painting" where he encouraged the viewers to paint along with him. Many people including myself remember him for his calm voice and love of nature.
"Anyone can paint, all you need is a dream in your heart and a little bit of practice."
My own personal PS1 collection.
Digital Art can be in many different formats but Photoshop is an amazing tool to create some beautifully created pieces of artwork. Some can be used as marketing or some for websites. I believe have put this in my cabinet as I have been interested in the development of some images, for example this smoking image as it shows who could be harmed with the fumes and passive smoke.
Izadin's Curosities
I have always been a video game fan since I was little. It has always been enjoyable to play video games as well as watching gameplays from sites such as YouTube, IGN and GameSpot. My favourite generation of video games were third, fourth, fifth and sixth generation because of nostalgic consoles such as Super Nintendo, SEGA Genesis (also known as Mega Drive), Nintendo 64 and PlayStation. Even though I am huge Nintendo fan, I like all sorts of video games. In reality, video games are meant to be happy, fun and enjoyable however some games can push boundaries which leads to video game controversies. A good example for video game controversy would be the Grand Theft Auto series because there are dumb people who play these kind of video games, they reenact on it and they end up themselves arrested. I grew up with video games on Super Nintendo, SEGA Master System and Nintendo 64 however I enjoy more on consoles such as PlayStation 2 and GameCube. I also have games on newer consoles such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. When it comes to curiosity of video games, I normally browse on video games from the internet. With games that already been released, I’m always interested to know about the plot, characters and gameplay depending on the game I’m researching on. With upcoming video games which are yet to be released, I normally watch trailers of it and afterwards, depending on the game, I always look forward to it before and after it was released.
Artificial intelligence is something we all hear time in this day and age, as its in some ways here already. But one major company is creating a car that is driverless (Apple). Okay Google have done it already but that is for business and not for public release which is what Apple intents to do. I am curious about this as the engineering behind it is brilliantly done and has really come on leaps and bounds over the past few years, and I expect it to keep going in the next 10-15 years.
